Kudos
to Officer Danielle Ardila who was named Second Precinct’s Officer of the Month
for August! Officer
Ardila’s story for the month is one of community engagement, proactive police
work and follow through. In a field of officers who make observations and
subsequent arrests, you may find a limited few who look at police work as a
process of obtaining information, analyzing it, acting on it at the right time,
making the arrest and obtaining more information for future arrests.
Officer Ardila is one of those few. She
looks ahead and fully understands that information is key to knowing where
crime is occurring, who is committing it and identifying the best ways to stop
it. Here’s one example: While on patrol Aug. 20, Officer Ardila and her partner
spotted two scooter drivers without helmets. Knowing there had been a
significant increase in scooter thefts in her sector, they tried to stop the
drivers. One stopped, but the other took off and was later captured by
responding officers. Further investigation revealed that one scooter had been
reported stolen and the other was actually stolen too; it just hadn’t been
reported yet. Both drivers were charged accordingly. Thank you and
congratulations Officer Danielle Ardila!
