Today’s Good News
Third Precinct Officer Richard Colburn recently stopped a vehicle on West Grace Street for a traffic violation. As the officer approached, the driver got out and attempted to leave the scene. The officer quickly caught up to the driver, detained him and called for backup. After other officers arrived, Officer Colburn conducted a protective sweep of the vehicle and found a loaded handgun hidden under the driver’s seat. As a result, the driver was charged for possession of a concealed weapon and the handgun was seized.

Third Precinct Master Patrol Officer Thomas McGovern and Officer John Raina recently responded to North Vine Street to investigate a report of car break-in. A witness called police and described the suspect and the suspect’s last known direction of travel. The officers quickly located the suspect walking east on Grove Avenue and stopped him. An investigation revealed the suspect was in possession of several stolen items. As a result, he was arrested and charged with grand larceny.

Second Precinct Officer Michael Spinos recently spotted a black Cadillac on Jefferson Davis Highway that he knew had been stolen earlier that day. He followed the vehicle and stopped it nearby. After further investigation, he found the vehicle’s window broken and the steering column popped. He arrested the driver for auto theft and driving on a suspended license.

Third Precinct Officer Ryan Bailey recently responded to the 2000 block of West Broad Street to investigate a report of a disorderly intoxicated customer inside a business. Before he arrived, the customer left the store. The officer located the suspect’s car, stopped it and, after investigating, determined the driver was too intoxicated to drive. As a result, the suspect was arrested for DUI. Good work!

Today’s Good News
After a recent shooting on the Southside, Second Precinct Officer Nicholas Caesar was assigned to patrol near that area. He spotted a group of people in the Davee Gardens park area after dark and stopped them. With the assistance of Officer Jason Pritchard, they identified and arrested two of the men who they discovered were wanted on seven charges related to shooting and drug offenses. Good work!

When he arrived he located the male walking down the street being followed by the property owner. The officer stopped the male, determined he was too intoxicated to speak clearly and could barely stand up and arrested him for public drunkenness.

Today’s Good News
Fourth Precinct Officers Jessica Drasher and Joseph Milton recently learned of a wanted person sought by detectives and conducted a search on Gladstone Avenue where they found the man. At the jail, they also found a substantial amount of crack cocaine on the man and charged him accordingly. The man is a suspect in several violent crimes and his arrest will have a definite positive impact in the North Highland Park neighborhood.

After a man recently robbed a bank on West Broad Street, Third Precinct officers worked quickly together to apprehend the robber. With the assistance of Henrico Police and Virginia State Police, officers and investigators were able to find and identify the man and charge him with bank robbery. Good work everyone!

Today’s Good News
Fourth Precinct Officers Joseph Milton and Benjamin Neifeld were recently patrolling on North 1st Street when they spotted three known juveniles violating curfew after midnight. They stopped the group and, after receiving information about a nearby robbery moments early, arrested the trio. With the assistance of Officer Philippa Vaughan and Detective William Travers, all were charged with robbery and curfew violations.

Today’s Good News
A concerned citizen recently called police after hearing a sawing sound at 4 a.m. on Westover Hills Boulevard. Second Precinct Officer William Kingery responded to the scene, investigated and found a man using a power saw to cut off a catalytic converter. Thanks to the partnership between the community and Officer Kingery, this thief was removed from the streets. Good work!

Today’s Good News
After three robberies occurred in one night in Sector 311, officers and investigators quickly worked together to find the culprits. Master Police Officer Steven Fields spotted the suspects’ vehicle on Monument Avenue and coordinated a Third Precinct-wide response. As a result, two of the four robbers were arrested and detectives are following up on good leads to catch the others. Good work Third Precinct!
