Today’s Good News

It didn’t take long for First Precinct officers to find and arrest two men who recently robbed another man at gunpoint on East Grace Street. As Officer Floyd Campbell talked with the victim and broadcast the suspect description, Officers Stuart Hannah and Lemont Carey spotted the men and stopped them. After being identified by the victim, the pair was arrested and the stolen property recovered. Good work First Precinct officers!

Third Precinct Focus Mission Team Officers Demetrium Melton and Henry Johnson recently removed a drug dealer and a large amount of narcotics from city streets. Major Crimes detectives recently worked through the night to make two arrests within 24 hours after a man was shot to death on Chamberlayne Avenue. After a citizen recently reported his bicycle stolen, Fourth Precinct Officers Keith Yox, Karen Brown and David Stone worked together to find the bike at a local pawn store, identify and find the thief and arrest him. Because of their dedication to duty, knowledge of their community and teamwork, these officers were able to make a quick arrest and recover the stolen property. Good job!

Third Precinct Officers James Hale and Elmer Fernandez recently stopped a vehicle in the 1300 block of Idlewood Avenue for defective equipment. Upon approaching the car the officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside. The officers searched the car and found drug paraphernalia, digital scales and three pounds of marijuana. They arrested those inside and seized the drugs.

First Precinct FMT Officers Jon Bridges, Thomas Gilbert and Kenneth Custer recently stopped a moped driver who suddenly abandoned the moped and ran away. The man was later found hiding in a trash can by Officers Michael Kirby and James Spada. When the officers retraced their steps, they found a hidden firearm, and later charged the man with felony eluding police, possession of marijuana and possession of stolen property.
