Today’s Good News
First Precinct
Officer Kenise Ford
was in the parking lot of the precinct recently when she heard random gunfire
approximately one block away and immediately ran to the area. A witness flagged
her down and alerted her to a man who had been shot. Officer Ford quickly
gathered and broadcast the descriptions of three suspects and minutes later Officers Kevin Hyde, David Woods and Brent
Howlett spotted two of the suspects in an alley a few streets away and
arrested them without incident. They also located a loaded firearm nearby.
Witnesses reported the third suspect was
still in the area and after Officer
Deane Waite circled the neighborhood several times, he located and safely
arrested the third suspect. After further investigation, two of the suspects
were charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Officer Ford displayed quick,
intelligent police actions when both responding to the call and when relaying
the information over the radio while Officers Hyde, Howlett, Woods and Waite
displayed bravery, and intelligent police actions when taking the possibly
armed shooting suspects into custody.
Because of the teamwork of these five officers, two dangerous felons and
a firearm were taken off of the street. Good work!
