Today’s Good News
Though
Today’s Good News may not be about an arrest or crime reduction, it shows the
many hats our officers wear in doing their job. Two individuals were recently
dropped off separately at the Department’s Headquarters without any
transportation or shelter. The first person—an 18-year-old female—was stranded
shortly before 3 a.m. and even though Officer
Kim Pulley’s main assignment is the Warrants desk, she spent the better
part of the day trying to find out where this young girl was from and how she
could be reunited with her family. Just before 2 p.m. that same day, Community Care Sgt. Carol Adams walked
through the area and volunteered to help even though she was off duty.
Sgt.
Adams was finally able to reach the teen’s family and made arrangements to get
her home by bus. A few hours later, while Sgt. Adams was still waiting with the
teen, a man wandered into Headquarters in need of shelter. Sgt. Adams took the
time to personally take him to a shelter where he could stay for the night. She
then returned to her office to wait with the teen until her bus left at 3:30
a.m. the next morning. Thank you, Officer Pulley and Sgt. Adams, for taking the
time to take care of these two individuals in need of help.
