July 10 – July 11, 2013

Today’s Good News
A Maryland woman recently emailed to commend Communications Officer Robin Pierce for her assistance. The woman wrote that her neighbor was traveling to France with her dog and learned at the last minute that the dog required a stamp from a federal agency based in Richmond before it could travel. Though the women overnighted the paperwork and tried to reach the agency by phone, all the lines seemed out of order so they called the Department’s non-emergency number to see if something major was going on in the city. After explaining the situation to CO Pierce, she located a phone number to help them reach the appropriate staff at the federal agency. CO Pierce also followed up with the women to verify that they were able to get through.

“Thanks to Communications Officer Pierce my neighbor was able to get the traveling authorization documents on time for her flight,” the woman wrote. “Communications officers and police officers who are aware of the public’s needs, and understand the importance of the canine family members, and who successfully, professionally and gracefully resolve the situation affecting those in need are to be recognized. Thank you.”
