June 2 – June 3, 2014

Today’s Good News
Kudos to Communications Officer Natasha Beard who was named the Department’s Communications Officer of the Month for April! One of the most dangerous and challenging incidents to handle for an officer—or a communications officer—is a vehicle pursuit. How they respond to each twist and turn during the incident can make a difference between life and death and is critical to a successful conclusion.

That was the case one day in April for CO Beard when a driver refused to stop for an officer and took off at a high rate of speed. She immediately dispatched two additional units to respond and began taking meticulous notes of the vehicle’s route as it headed toward the interstate. The suspect vehicle eventually struck another vehicle before crashing and being taken into custody. Through it all, CO Beard remained calm and confident while multitasking the details of the incident.

This is just one of several reasons CO Natasha Beard is our pick for Communications Officer of the Month for April! Thank you and congratulations!
