Today’s Good News
Kudos to Officer Jacob DeBoard who was named Third Precinct’s Officer of the Month for April! Master Police Officer DeBoard handled a variety of calls last month, but there was one incident in particular where he went above and beyond the call of duty to help a victim who was being dangerously stalked by a former romantic partner.
It started when he was called to investigate a burglary, but it was evident through his investigation that the former romantic partner was causing the problems. Though he could have simply taken the report and passed it along to detectives, he took the time to review the home’s security footage—which identified the offender—before obtaining several warrants and helping the victim obtain a permanent protective order.
He continued to help the victim on several follow up incidents and calls and worked with the commonwealth’s attorney’s office to ensure a successful prosecution.
About his good actions, Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Christine Cestaro wrote a long thank you email that reads in part: “He has spent hours of his time dealing with a terrified victim, doing his best to help her feel safe and calm. He ensured patrol was aware of her residence, accepted countless phone calls at all hours from me and patrol, and promptly responded to the victim to keep her updated. I can’t thank him enough.”
We can’t either. Good work Officer Jacob DeBoard—our Third Precinct Officer of the Month for April.
