Today’s Good News
First Precinct officers recently responded to investigate two vehicles for reckless driving in Church Hill. Officer Kelly Morley followed one vehicle and safely took one driver into custody after he crashed. Officer Erica Maine had a more complicated investigation after she stopped following the second vehicle for safety reasons. As officers continued to search the area, a citizen flagged down one officer and reported the location of the vehicle, which was parked in an alley nearby.
Officer Maine again relayed the suspect’s description after another officer spotted a man walking down Fairmount Avenue. Though the clothing was different, officers stopped and detained the man. Officer Maine then responded and identified the man as the vehicle driver, despite the fact that his clothing was different from the original description. She then took the time to check the nearby trashcans and that’s where she discovered his discarded hat and sweatshirt. Both drivers were then charged accordingly. Good teamwork and attention to detail officers!
