March 7 – March 10, 2014

Today’s Good News
Kudos to Communications Officer Melanie Givens who was named the Department’s Communications Officer of the Month for February! CO Givens has made quite the name for herself at the Division of Emergency Communications due to her outstanding work ethic. CO Givens has been employed with the division for nine years, and during that time she has shown how great of an employee she is.

Here’s the 411 on CO Givens: During one incident last month, one of the officers started following a stolen vehicle. CO Givens--quick on the radio--dispatched two additional units for backup and activated the Early Warning Notification, alerting the area that a pursuit was coming their way. Later on in the pursuit, the stolen car crashed and the driver was arrested. We all know how intense any situation can be during a pursuit yet CO Givens remained calm and composed while under an incredible amount of pressure. The saying may be “Keep calm and carry on,” but in this case, we think the saying should be “Keep calm because CO Givens is on the radio!”

CO Givens is just the kind of person we need on our team, and we’re proud to call her our Communications Officer of the Month for February!
