DAILY CRIME REPORT

March 5 – March 6, 2014

Today’s Good News
Third Precinct Detective Harry Brown was recently assigned to investigate an interesting burglary that occurred at a business on the Southside. According to surveillance video, a group of individuals broke into a store, but didn’t steal any money. Instead, they took a whole rack of clothing, including several pairs of blue jeans. Detective Brown studied the video carefully and determined that the suspects were likely teenagers. A few days later, he was driving through a neighborhood near the burglary when he spotted a young man wearing clothing that matched the ones that had been stolen. He identified the man and verified his address before going back and reviewing the surveillance tape several more times to confirm it was indeed the same person. After further investigation, he arrested the first individual, who confessed to the crime, and subsequently identified and arrested three other people involved, charging them all with burglary, grand larceny and conspiracy to commit a felony.

This is just one of many examples of Detective Brown’s great work. Overall last month, he investigated more than 40 crimes that resulted in the arrest of nine individuals for more than 42 felony offenses, ranging from commercial to residential burglaries, grand larceny, forgery and obtaining money under false pretenses. Good work Detective Brown!
