Kudos
to Officer Andre Guevara who was
named Third Precinct’s Officer of the
Month for February! Officer Guevara stayed busy in February as is usual for
this high-energy officer. He’s especially popular in the Woodland Heights
neighborhood after he conducted an operation to deal with a rash of car
break-ins. During that assignment, the number of incidents dropped to zero. In
addition, Officer Guevara advised residents of safety tips and specific ways
they could help police in reducing car break-ins.
Officer Guevara’s quick thinking and
adaptation to a constantly changing scene also allowed him to help save the
life of a man who was threatening to shoot himself. Once another individual in
the home was safe, Officer Guevara was able to convince the man to let officers
take him into custody so he could be evaluated. He also worked in great detail
with a citizen who had had his cell phone stolen, giving the victim some closure
and helping detectives with his good investigation. Thank you and
