Today’s Safety Tip
Though
mopeds and bicycles are a fun and energy-efficient way to get around town,
they’re also a prime target for thieves when left unattended, and especially
during the warm summer months. That’s why the Department asks citizens to
secure their two-wheeled rides with locks or chains and to take pictures of
them and write down identification numbers so if they are stolen, officers have
more information with which to work to find them. Officers having such
information also aids in returning stolen property that is found and making
arrests. Citizens are also asked to keep both bikes and mopeds inside if
possible and out of sight to deter thieves.
