Today’s Good News
Ironically, some criminals just can’t hide from the technology of the items they love to steal. That was certainly the case earlier this month when a woman saw a man break into a car and steal an iPhone. Fourth Precinct Officers David Ruland and Brian Carlucci responded to Monroe Street and spoke with the witness who described the suspect and the victim who told officers she had an app on her phone that allows them to find it by the GPS location. Officer Carlucci looked up the information, went to the location--a few streets away--and detained an individual matching the suspect’s description. Though the suspect claimed to have just bought the phone from a man on the street, the witness positively identified him as the thief and he was charged with grand larceny and destruction of private property.
