Today’s Good News
Several Fourth Precinct officers recently responded to a chaotic situation
downtown that started with a report of an armed person before an officer heard
gunshots and spotted three individuals running in different directions. Officer Steve Rawlings was flagged down by two victims who said they’d just
been robbed at gunpoint. He quick broadcast their descriptions while at the
same time Officer Lance Falkena
spotted the suspects running and immediately gave chase. He captured one man
while First Precinct Officers Jordan
Clark and Jermaine Easter captured another. The third suspect eluded
officers at the time. Officers Brad
Hirst and John Story stopped a vehicle leaving the area that they thought
was involved, but it turned out to be another victim from a second, related
incident.
After
further investigation by Detectives
Kristie Reed and James Higgins, officers determined the suspects had robbed
a couple at gunpoint and then tried to carjack a man who they then shot at when
he drove off. The officers recovered the firearm in a nearby alley and charged
both men with robbery, firearm charges and attempted carjacking. The
investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are pending Good work
officers and detectives!
