Today’s Good News
We
police officers do appreciate it when the criminals make it easy for us to find
them. That was the case this past weekend when a man robbed a convenience store
at knifepoint and then chose two interesting forms of getaway transportation.
After interviewing the store employee, First
Precinct Officer James Peck broadcast the robber’s description and the fact
that he fled the scene riding a silver bicycle with bright pink handlebars.
Approximately 20 minutes later, Sergeant Keith Dohl spotted the man
with his distinct bicycle getting onto a bus and putting the bike on the front
cage. With the assistance of Officers
Chris Linn, Jerry Baskette and Sergeant Bill Chorney, the officers stopped
the bus and safely took the man into custody without incident. After being
interviewed by Detective Calvin Layne,
the man confessed to the crime and was charged accordingly. Though the officers
credited the good arrest to them just doing their job, they admitted that the
pink handlebars did make it easier for them to spot the offender. Good work
everyone!
