Today’s Good News
Kudos
to Officer Paul Gaines who was named
Fourth Precinct’s Officer of the Month
for September! When it
comes to policing on bicycle, there’s a lot more to it than most people know.
That’s why when there was a vacancy on the two-person bike unit in Sector 413
last month, Officer Gaines was the only one who fit the bill after hearing all
that it required.
In addition to having tremendous scheduling
flexibility, the officers were also told that the unit’s focus could be changed
mid-stream and days off could be moved around and switched depending on the
public safety needs. Officer Gaines adapted to this new schedule without flaw
and has been an instrumental part of a very effective tool in combating violent
crime downtown.
Last month, the unit:
*made 2 felony arrests
*37 misdemeanor arrests
*served 10 warrants
*completed 25 field interview reports,
*and still made time to respond to 58 radio
calls.
Good work. Thank you and congratulations
Officer Gaines!
