Today’s Good News
Kudos
to Officer Brian Sheridan who was
named Third Precinct Precinct’s Officer
of the Month for March! Officer Sheridan not only knows his sector very well, but he also
knows the people within it. That paid off big time last month in two
investigations where his knowledge was crucial to finding two suspects.
The first
occurred on March 23 when he was working off duty in the Fan, but heard about a
burglary in progress nearby. After hearing the suspect’s description, he
immediately recognized the individual and went to his home. Despite the
suspect’s attempt to hide behind a pillar on his own front porch, Officer
Sheridan spotted him and took him into custody. After further investigation by
detectives, a witness identified the man as the burglar and the stolen property
was recovered behind the residence.
During the
second incident, Officer Sheridan recognized from surveillance images a female
suspect who was wanted for robbing a taxi cab driver. But the woman eluded all
of Officer Sheridan’s precinct-wide attempts to find her at her usual
locations. At one point, he missed her by mere minutes! But that didn’t deter
him! A short time later, he finally caught up with her at her residence early
one morning and safely took her into custody.
Officer
Sheridan also recognizes the importance of prevention, which is why he took the
time to do walking patrol in the areas of Byrd Park and Maymont, educating
citizens in an effort to deter car break-ins. These are just a few examples of
the great work Officer Sheridan does every month. Thank you, and
congratulations Officer Brian Sheridan—our Third Precinct Officer of the Month!
