Today’s Good News
Sometimes an officer’s most powerful weapon is his words. That was certainly the case a few weeks ago when First Precinct officers responded to North 35th Street for a report of an armed man threatening to kill himself inside a residence in which he had previously threatened to hurt others earlier that evening. Focus Mission Team Officer Steven Moore was in a position close to the front door, and after hearing movement inside; he was able to engage the individual in conversation. After more than an hour of talking, he convinced the individual to exit the house and surrender safely to him and other officers. Thanks to the Focus Mission Team’s good position, response and negotiation skills, they avoided a potentially bad situation for the individual and others and made a safe arrest. Good work Focus Mission Team Officers Steven Moore, Harry Fitzpatrick, Thomas Gilbert, John Hill, Brian Parker, Russell Pearce, John Rotondi and Detective Brian Taylor!
