June 10 – June 11, 2013

Today’s Good News

What started off as a defective brake light violation recently turned into a multiple felony arrest for two First Precinct officers. Officers James Jennings and Keith Mansfield stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Mechanicsville Turnpike, but the vehicle took off while the officers were verifying the driver’s information. The suspect crashed into a telephone pole a few blocks away and then tried to run from the officers, but they quickly and safely took him into custody. Further investigation revealed the man was wanted on 13 felony charges out of Henrico County. He was served with those right after RPD officers charged him with possession of a schedule I/II substance, possession of marijuana, driving while suspended, misdemeanor eluding police and having a defective brake light. Good work officers!
