May 30 – May 31, 2013

Today’s Good News

Kudos to Officer James Jennings who was named First Precinct’s Officer of the Month for May! Nicknamed “Tiger,” Officer Jennings is one of the newer officers on the force, but that doesn’t stop him from stepping up when the situation calls for it. He showed great maturity and his ability to handle stressful situations on May 21 when he was the first officer to respond to a shooting call that turned out to be a homicide. On scene in less than two minutes, he found the victim, quickly assessed the situation and began taking control of the incident.

He secured the crime scene, clearing it of onlookers and took it upon himself to create and be in charge of the crime scene roster rather than assume someone else would do it. He was also instrumental in identifying and detaining potential witnesses. His quick work helped bring a chaotic crime scene under control and made sure that crucial evidence was preserved. Good work and thank you Officer Jennings!
