Today’s Good News
By car, by foot or by paw, Richmond Police officers will catch their criminal. That was the case recently when Fourth Precinct Sergeant Percy Smith observed a stolen car being driven down Laburnum Avenue. Sergeant Smith stopped the vehicle, but the driver jumped out and ran away. Though Sergeant Smith lost sight of him, Officer Nicholas Stirrett spotted the man nearby and pursued him on foot down MacArthur Avenue before the man turned a corner and disappeared. That’s when K-9 Officer Sammy Hernandez and K-9 Niko responded and tracked the offender’s scent through the alley until Niko found him hiding in a yard behind a home on Avondale Road. They then arrested the man without incident and charged him with several crimes. Good teamwork!
