Today’s Good News

After a significant increase in burglaries and thefts in the Blackwell and Oak Grove neighborhoods during the past two months, First Precinct Detective George Mihalcoe and Officer Jonathan Davis coordinated their efforts to deter these crimes and arrest the offenders. Both officers were on duty recently when a call came in for a burglary in progress. While en route to the location, Officer Davis observed a man pushing a trash can full of aluminum siding down the street. He took note of the location and man’s description and communicated with Detective Mihalcoe, who advised him to detain the possible suspect while Detective Mihalcoe checked the residence. Thanks to their coordinated efforts, they interviewed the home’s owner and learned the man had stolen the siding despite his insistence that he had permission to do so. They charged him with grand larceny and destruction of property. These officers should be recognized for their professionalism, dedication to duty and investigative skills.
