Kudos to Officer Kaneka McQueen who was named Fourth Precinct’s Officer of the Month
for July! Officer McQueen focuses on the nuisance crimes in Sector 412, like loitering, trespassing
and drunk in public, because she knows these can escalate to property crimes
and, sometimes, violent crimes. Though the alley behind the BP station at Lombardy and Broad is a favorite hangout for vagrants,
Officer McQueen works to keep this area free of persons who could pose a
problem.
She advises them of the
loitering and trespassing laws and gives them the opportunity to leave on their
own accord or she is more than willing to provide them with a personal escort
to lockup. Although kind and soft-spoken, Officer McQueen takes a zero
tolerance approach to these crimes as she does with all crimes. Business owners
and residents in that area have been very appreciative. Congratulations and
thank you Officer McQueen!
