Today’s Good News
Kudos to Officer John Raina who was named Third Precinct’s Officer of the Month for December! After a rash of 20-plus burglaries in the Fan, Randolph and Maymont neighborhoods last month, Officer Raina took it personally. He pursued every angle he could think of with precinct detectives to put a stop to the crimes, and his hard work paid off. During an investigation of a stolen credit card, Officer Raina arrested one man for credit card theft and seven counts of grand larceny. That investigation also assisted Henrico County Police with the clearing of 15 burglary cases there.
But Officer Raina didn’t stop there. He continued his efforts to decrease property crimes and educate the community by distributing 150 crime flyers in the areas plagued by burglaries, and he was part of an integral team that distributed more than 6,000 vehicle break-in safety tip flyers throughout the month. As a result of those efforts, vehicle break-ins are down nearly 70 percent compared to the previous month. Thank you Officer Raina!
