Today’s Good News
It wasn’t too hard for Third Precinct Officer Travis Thompson to find a man who broke into a vehicle on West Cary Street this past weekend and stole several items. Witnesses saw the man run down an alley. Officer Thompson called for backup and followed the man’s footprints in the snow back to his apartment building. Officers recovered the victim’s belongings and arrested the man for grand larceny. Good work officers!

Today’s Good News

Earlier this month, a detective briefed several officers about a career thief who was wanted for several thefts from motor vehicles. Fourth Precinct Officers Michael Nyantakyi and Paul Campbell knew the thief and immediately left the meeting to find him. They quickly found and arrested him. These officers’ quick response and knowledge of their sector is exemplary and they should be recognized for their devotion to duty.

Thanks to some quick teamwork with the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority Police, we were recently able to make a speedy burglary arrest. First Precinct Officers James Mitchell and Ronald McClarin responded to a burglary on North 29th Street, gathered information and set up a perimeter. Detective Roy Layne and two RRHA Officers stopped the suspects’ vehicle, recovered the stolen items and arrested the two men.

Today’s Good News

Thanks to attentive neighbors, Second Precinct officers were recently able to catch two burglars. The Willis Road neighbors called police after seeing two men break into a residence, kept officers updated and gave great suspect descriptions and direction of travel, which helped officers catch and arrest both burglars in a nearby alley. The Department is very grateful to the neighbors who saw something suspicious and immediately called 911.

Third Precinct Officers Demetrium Melton and Henry Johnson recently responded to South Meadow Street for a citizen’s call about a known drug dealer selling drugs in the area. When the man saw the officers, he threw a bag into some bushes and ran. But the officers caught him and then found the bag with illegal drugs inside. The man was arrested and charged with felony and misdemeanor charges.
