Today’s Good News
Thanks to Fourth Precinct Officers Cleavester Ferrell, Paul Gaines, Raymond Misegades, Chris Moore and Larry New, an armed robber is off the streets. After a woman reported a man tried to rob her at gunpoint on East Franklin Street, the officers quickly broadcast the suspect's description, spotted him and arrested him.

Today’s Good News
Two Fan graffiti vandals recently pleaded guilty to 13 counts of property damage and were sentenced to several days in jail, ordered to pay thousands of dollars in restitution and perform hundreds of hours of community service, including cleaning up graffiti vandalism. Good job to the Third Precinct officers who caught them.

Today’s Good News
After a convenience store was robbed at gunpoint on Jefferson Davis Highway, Second Precinct Officers Karen Spencer, Robert Taylor and Tim Wade sprang into action and recalled previous encounters with a suspect who matched the robber's description. They quickly located the suspect and, after questioning, the man was arrested and charged with armed robbery.

Today’s Good News
Special Investigations Division detectives recently followed up on a Crime Stoppers’ complaint regarding drugs being sold out of an apartment in the 1100 block of Grove Avenue. Their investigation led to the execution of a search warrant for the apartment and the seizure of marijuana, cocaine, packaging material and drug paraphernalia. As a result, the tenant was arrested on misdemeanor and felony drug charges.

A woman recently called to commend Second Precinct Officer James Jackson who took a police report when her purse was stolen. Though she was very upset over the theft, Officer Jackson’s professional and demeanor calmed her down and she felt he truly cared about her becoming a victim, she said. After responding to an in-progress burglary, Second Precinct Officer Charles Taylor quickly gathered information that he broadcast to Officers Mike Shannon, Larry Boxley, Andrew Wasiuk and Anthony Ratliff who spotted and arrested two suspects nearby. Detective Chris Miller interviewed the suspects who eventually confessed to multiples crimes. Good work!

Thanks to the hard work of several Special Investigations Division detectives, a major narcotics supplier has been removed from the streets. Despite having completed their tours of duty, the detectives stayed to help with the execution of several search warrants as well as evidence collection and processing. The searches resulted in the seizure of numerous drugs, weapons and cash.

Today’s Good News
A man recently reported he was robbed at gunpoint by two unknown males on North 1st Street. Fourth Precinct Officer Alfonzo Joyner responded, gathered information and broadcast the suspects' description. Officers Donnell Patterson, Justin Land and Tanekia Owens-Turner stopped two men nearby who were later identified and found with a gun. After being interviewed by Detectives Leonard Jones and Amira Sleem, the men were charged with armed robbery.

Third Precinct Officer Kelly Morley recently received information that a wanted suspect was in the area of the 2700 of West Main Street. She and other officers circulated the area and located the suspect right where the tipster said he would be. As a result, the suspect was taken into custody without incident and served with two warrants; one for possession of marijuana and another for possession of a firearm after having been convicted of a felony.

Today’s Good News
A woman recently e-mailed to thank Sector 312 officers who patrol the community around Bassett and Westover Hills Boulevard. "I just wanted to say thanks for being present in my neighborhood. I notice units sitting in the lot in the evenings occasionally and it really makes me feel 100 percent safer to take a trip to my car," she wrote. "I've also encountered police officers patrolling the grounds and really, just knowing a good guy is nearby means more than you all probably hear. So thanks for just being there."

Today’s Good News
After Third Precinct Officers Daniel O’Connell and Blake Letchford received information that marijuana was being sold at an address on Melmark Court, they worked with Focus Mission Team detectives to investigate. After obtaining a search warrant, officers arrested two people and seized a sawed-off shotgun, a revolver, marijuana, ammunition and miscellaneous pills.
